Privacy is a concern to the administrator and of course to the members: This section outlines the Privacy procedures in place for this site:

Emails:

Email spamming is done by a spam robot that scans the page collecting the emails on that page.

Where emails are shown such as in the member lists etc they are encoded to stop any spam robot from seeing them - although you can see the email and link to it, the spam robots cannot. To see how effective this is, surf to the members list page and click view/source -this will open up the actual html of the page being viewed. Select any email on the page in the browser then search for it in the source page. You will not find it. In its place will be a series of numbers that represent the encoded email address.

This applies for all the pages that ask you for an email address or display the emails. On the old ninemsn site there were no security procedures in place against email spammers

Member details:

The member details that you provide when you register are held encrypted in a Microsoft SQL database.. The database is held at a location separate from the web site. To access the database you need to know where it is and what it is called then the userid and the password.. You would need to know the layout of the database to access the particulars and lastly you would need to know how to decrypt the information.

The only people who have access to the data held in the database are the top level administrators of the web site who are of course also members.

Permissions:

To further protect your privacy access to certain parts of the web site is only available to registered members .Unregistered visitors to those parts of the site will not see the content - they will simply see a message that they would need to be members to access that part of the site. Protected areas are within the Crew Area and include the member List, Profiles and Class lists.

There is allowance for members to enter data about themselves ie Member List Profiles and Class lists - only the member that enters the data can edit or delete it. Note however the top level administrator has edit abilities across the whole site - that is he can moderate the content that was entered.
