 About the site Minimize

Most of the features that you were used to on the ninmsn site are available here however the procedure for using them may be different.

Forum:

You can set your own profile for the forums - you can select to be notified when changes are made to the forum threads and posts. if you decide to do this then your will receive an email to notify that a thread has been posted to. Apart from that the forums are fairly much the same as the old ones.

Albums:

Basically the same but a different look - Currently they are held off site on the new multiply site/ You do not need to login to the multiply site to view the photos.

Lists:

Member, class, profiles etc are more formatted then the old site - hopefully over time we can standardise the data they hold. Text input is via rich a text editor so more formatting is allowed - in time all data will be standardised ie if you are inputting a date then only valid dates can be entered.

Blogs:

There are a number of blogs on the site some are closed so only administrators can create a blog entry but members can comment on the entry. Some are open blog that members can create main  entries and comments. Currently the Vale section is set up as a list but in time it will be moved to a blog.

Private Mail:

The site is supported by a private mail system - just like emails but they are not sent thro the email system. Members can send PM's to another member or to groups of members - when you log in and move to the member’s page you will be notified if you have PM's. The administrator will some times send bulk PM's to all members.

Mail Lists:

There are two mailing lists available - one is a one way mailing list - that is the administrator is the only one that can initiate a message the other is a standard two way mailing list all members can initiate a message for example if you wish to notify everyone about a special get together then you simply send an email to the list and it will be broadcast to all members on the list. You need to subscribe to this list and you will find a section in the site that allows you to both subscribe and unsubscribe.

Feedback:

Through out the site you will find feedback forms - these will send actual emails to the site administrator. If you see some thing that is wrong or you think that some thing could be added to the site then simply send a feedback. The qantas.org.au mail server is used for these so you don't even need outlook etc.

Adding Content:

A number of pages allow you to add content to the site. You don't need any knowledge of HTM etc and you don't need special software- every thing that is required is built into the site.

Chat:

A chat system will be added - on the members page you can see who else is on line and what page they are on. You can open the chat system in a separate window and see if any one online wants to chat - meanwhile you can continue viewing the site.

Articles:

Different from the old site. On this site they are actually treated like newspaper articles - you do not need any special software to read them. Members can add to the article list by writing their own and have it posted with the rest of the articles.

Links:

Some links will open a new window and then take you off site, some links will actually open within the site so you stay onsite.
